synopsis:

The interior design of this residence in this 1929 structure honors the building’s architecture, proportion and grandeur by combining a pre-war pedigree with downtown modern living. Furniture and decor reflect a curated mix of mid-century modern and Art Deco eras with a combination of nickel, antiqued bronze and chrome. Highly textured neutrals in wool and silk, accented by period patterns, provide a serene and rich backdrop for each room. Designed for a resident who wants to live with the art of design, the apartment highlights a diverse collection of artwork.

Accentuating the incoming light and fourteen-foot height, the design features coffered ceilings and window treatments of luxurious sheer fabrics. Wall coverings in a medley of textures and patterns add spirit to the interior spaces. Venetian plaster walls and ceilings add dimension .The shared living spaces are imbued with a light palette, while deeper hues in the bedrooms create a sense of warmth.

French herringbone oak covers radiant heated floors while eight-foot ebonized doors are crafted from hand-rubbed wood and fitted with hardware of burnished metal. Unique Art Deco–inspired mosaics were hand-cut from limestone and white marble. The master bathroom includes a custom vanity in nickel and lacquer, giving the feel of a Parisian dressing table.
