This apartment in a grand, 1926 building in Manhattan’s Upper West Side was designed for an active, modern family. The floorplan was reconfigured to open smaller spaces into larger, less formal living areas while preserving the proportions so admired in pre-war buildings. An open gourmet cook’s kitchen was designed as a multifaceted family activity hub, accommodating meals, homework and entertaining. Pre-war cabinetry was given a modern interpretation with large glass doors. Private corridors set off bedrooms and stylish home offices from public areas.
